Outward Bound is one of New Zealand’s leading organisations for showing people their full potential through outdoor challenge and adventure.
They believe in experiential learning – or learning through doing. Meaning the student takes responsibility over the challenge ahead of them. Whether that’s leading the way on an expedition or managing their team to complete a kayak journey.
Their focus lies in building transferable skills and attitudes that remain far beyond a participant’s time with them. Lessons learnt are applicable to work, study, home – and they last for life.
Outward Bound currently have a limited number of scholarships available for their 2019 Activate and Aspire courses.
Activate (17-24 November 2019) is an 8-day course for those aged 18+ with physical disabilities, past students include wheelchair users, people with muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, arthritis and amputees. They have 3 scholarships of $1400, students would pay $1761.00.
Aspire (9-16 September 2019) is an 8-day course for those aged 20 + and is a low impact course with the aim to give people with injury/medical issues the opportunity to experience an Outward Bound course. They have 5 scholarships available, students would pay $500.
Both courses are life-changing opportunities with limited spaces available so you will need to act quickly to book your place. For more information on course suitability and funding assistance read our Outward Bound page.
