Two new members co-opted to MSNZs National Executive Committee

The MSNZ National Executive Committee has completed a review of skill sets of current members and identified gaps in fundraising/marketing and someone with a health and clinical background.

The Executive Committee is delighted to announce that it has co-opted two new members to the National Executive Committee. These highly skilled people bring the experience and skills which we feel will enhance our organisation and ensure we meet our mission and purpose.

Kathryn Marshall is an experienced manager, strategist and income generator, with twenty-six years working as a senior fundraiser in the not-for-profit sector in England and New Zealand. Having moved from London to Christchurch with her family over four years ago, she started work in her current role as Principal Consultant for a fundraising consultancy agency, Barrer & Co. During her career she has developed fundraising strategies for clients and raised tens of millions of dollars for not-for-profit organisations in NZ and the UK. Kathryn has also spent a significant amount of time influencing and leading Boards, with an extensive governance history in the sector.

Kathryn is highly motivated to work with MSNZ and we are delighted she chose to apply for this role. With a passion for leading charities to exceed their fundraising income targets, engaging with and fostering relationships with supporters and partners we look forward to the future with Kathryn as part of our organisation.

Kathryn was also inspired to apply for the role with a particular interest in improving opportunities for those with disabilities and carers providing support. The Committee will be nominating Kathryn to the vacant Independent Member position at the upcoming AGM in October.

Soon to be based in Dunedin, Jan Campbell retired two years ago as Medical Director at Roche. With a strong strategic mind, Jan has extensive experience working with regulatory and legal obligations, running clinical trial activities, and working alongside marketing and logistic teams to ensure access to medicines. Sitting on the Roche senior leadership team, Jan supported the development of the local vision and personally led strategic alignment across the company through robust goal setting.

Jan is a passionate patient advocate. Through her experience she is driven by what really matters for New Zealanders living with MS and their carers. At Roche she saw first-hand the significant barriers in accessing treatments, diagnosis, MRIs and specialist care the MS community in NZ experience. Jan has worked closely with patient groups, health professionals, government departments and health agencies. Her experience in working with these various networks will add a strength to our organisation. Jan’s knowledge and experience of the health and political sector will be of huge value as we navigate the upcoming changes to the NZ health system.

Prior to her work with Roche, Jan has a clinical background as a nurse, particularly with clinical trials. Her skills in understanding research and data will be a huge asset to our advocacy efforts. The Committee is pleased to have co-opted Jan to the National Executive Committee, and we are excited about the knowledge and skills she will bring to the Committee and MSNZs advocacy programme.
